whatsapp seems set to launch a standalone app for businesses, which will feature both verified and non-verified profiles. In a new FAQ published
on its website, WhatsApp has detailed the Business accounts, including
key features and how to distinguish between verified and non-verified
profiles. In Asia, organisations have been using WhatsApp as an informal
means of coordinating with their clients and customers for the past few
years due to the massive popularity of the app. Earlier this year, the business-focused Verified Profiles was officially rolled out, allowing companies (with accounts featuring a tick mark as a sign of authentication) to communicate with users.

The Facebook-owned company says in the FAQ, "While chatting with
businesses, you can check your contact's profile to see which type of
account they're using. A verified account has a green checkmark badge in
its profile." It adds, "A business account with a grey question mark
badge in its profile means the account is using the WhatsApp Business
app but hasn't been confirmed nor verified by WhatsApp."

The much talked-about Business app is currently being tested by a private group of testers and the company will introduce it as WhatsApp Business - a standalone app.

Its
description available on Play Store read: "As a test partner for
'WhatsApp Business', you have early access to a wide range of new
features that we've built with you in mind. As you experiment with what
this new app has to offer, please share your experiences with us so that
we can improve the product."

WhatsApp Business is different from
the regular WhatsApp. The logo of the app has been changed from the
calling symbol to 'B' inside the green conversation bubble. However,
after downloading, the app looks the same as WhatsApp, barring the title
bar that says WhatsApp Business. The app has interesting features such
as auto responses, creating a business profile, chat migration, and
analytics.
"We also provide you with the tools you need to control
your experience with businesses. You can block business accounts and
report them as spam at any time, right within the chat," WhatsApp said
in the new FAQ.

Before launching the standalone Business app, the new FAQ, first spotted by the fan website WABetaInfo, aims to clear doubts so that no such fake app gets downloaded.

But 2017 logo redesigns continue to follow the current preference of
simplistic icons that work on small digital screens; usually vector
shaped, with bold colours and a legible typeface that can be used across
all digital and print platforms. Brands are continuing to produce a
fresh logo that pay homage to its history, legacy and core philosophy.

So far this year, a brand’s refresh has been usually paired with a
refreshed, more holistic digital interface and UX as demand for a easier
online experience increases. This can be seen with Audi’s new logo and
completely new UX and UI design, YouTube in similar form, and eHarmony.
This year has also seen luxury brands Calvin Klein and Converse move to
an even more simplified logo, attributing back to the long-established
history and iconography of both brands.

To strengthen security for its over two billion users, Facebook
may soon ask them to upload a photo that clearly shows their face to
prove that they are not a bot. Facebook is testing a new type of captcha
test that will use faces to verify whether real users are accessing the
social network, and not bots. The fresh development has been spotted in
a screenshot and has been confirmed by the company. Notably, tech
giants like Apple and Microsoft already have their own solutions (Face ID, Windows Hello) to provide face verification on their systems and platforms.

Twitter user @flexlibris on Tuesday posted a screenshot
that shows the new verification method. As seen in the screenshot,
Facebook asks users to upload a photo that "clearly shows" their face to
verify their identity. "We'll check it and then permanently delete it
from our servers," the screenshot reads.

Facebook confirmed
the test to Wired on Tuesday, saying the photo test was intended to
"help [Facebook] catch suspicious activity at various points of
interaction on the site, including creating an account, sending Friend
requests, setting up ads payments, and creating or editing ads".

A
Facebook spokesperson was quoted as saying that the photo test is one
of several methods, both automated and manual, used to detect suspicious
activity.

The process is automated, including identifying suspicious activity
and checking the photo. To determine if the account is authentic,
Facebook looks at whether the photo is unique, the report said. The test
was spotted by users as far back as April, the report notes.
Further, users were locked out of their accounts while the photo was being verified.

A
message said: "You Can't Log In Right Now. We'll get in touch with you
after we've reviewed your photo. You'll now be logged out of Facebook as
a security precaution."

Facebook users who suspect their account has been compromised can go to Facebook.com/hacked.
Whatsapp seems to be planning to add Picture-in-Picture mode to the Web client, a few months after the feature was rolled out to mobile devices
across the world. The WhatsApp Web feature will be rolled out with a
future update, which is said to be adding an option for users to reply
to messages privately in group messages. For now, the feature is not
available to download, but may be rolled out soon. Earlier this month,
WhatsApp was found to include a 'Restricted Groups' settings
to help administrators restrict group members from sending text
messages, photographs, video, GIFs, documents, or voice messages.

WhatsApp Web Picture-in-Picture mode

According to a brief
report by WABetaInfo, which is a popular source for unannounced WhatsApp
features, the company has submitted the version 0.2.7315 of its Web
client that includes the two new features. The first in the series is
the Picture-in-Picture mode that lets users watch videos in a separate
pop-up screen that includes controls such as a play/ pause button,
volume controller, and timeline slider. A new icon apparently enables
the Picture-in-Picture video content in a new screen to let you
continue your chat or any other work on the existing screen. The new
video-centric feature appears to work similar to the Picture-in-Picture
mode available on the mobile versions of WhatsApp that was debuted in
September.

WhatsApp Reply Privately option
Alongside the new mode, the reported WhatsApp Web
update includes a 'Reply Privately' option that allows you to
communicate with one of your group members privately. As per the
screenshot provided by the folks at WABetaInfo, the new option will be
available alongside the existing 'Reply' and 'Forward message' options
and will quote the group message alongside your private message. It is
expected that the new ability to privately send messages to group
members would also soon debut on WhatsApp for Android/ iOS.
The said features are not currently available on WhatsApp Web but are
likely to go live on the Web-based interface in the near future.

Creative Cloud 2018 was only released just over a month ago, but Adobe has just announced a new Select Subject tool coming soon to an update of Photoshop CC that aims to make it easier to select a person or animal from an image.

Using the Select Subject tool, you can make a selection of a subject
or multiple subjects with one click, with the help of Adobe's machine
learning Sensei, which detects the objects within the image. Watch the
video below to see how it works.

This tool is designed to help you to get started with
selecting a subject from an image, but it’s not 100 percent accurate (as
you can see in these examples), so you'll probably need to use the
Select and Mask tool as well to refine the edges.
You might usually choose to select negative space with the Magic
Wand, or use the Pen Tool, Magnetic tool or Lasso tool to outline the
subject. The video below shows how the Select Subject tool is somewhat
faster than some of these options.
Subject Select can also be used with an image of multiple subjects,
such as a group of people or people with animals. Select Subject will be
available in Select and Mask workspace so you can refine the mask in
one spot.
Some users in India are reporting seeing a new Motorcycle mode or Two-Wheeler mode in the latest version of Google Maps (v9.67.1) for Android. The new mode is seen placed alongside the earlier alternatives – Car, Foot, and Train. We're seeing the new mode too, on the latest version of the Android app.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">First reported by Android Police, the publication got a hold of screenshots from one such user in India and the photos show that the new Motorcycle mode has been incorporated to help bikers in the country find the route most suitable for their vehicles. Launching such a product in India makes sense as a substantial chunk of the country’s workforce travels on motorbikes and there are quite a few routes that are not wide enough for a bigger vehicle to fit in. We've reached out to Google for comment on the launch, and will update this article when we hear back.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">The report also claims that there have been sightings of the mode only by Indian users, making it the first market for the feature. We had recently Google CEO Sundar Pichai's comments about India playing an important role in improving Google Maps and other Google products.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">The mode is fairly intuitive – according to the screenshots – and informs bikers about all possible road closures along the way. It also gives information about the parking situation at their destination, a handy feature that was previously seen in the car mode.

Alphabet's Google introduced an app on Wednesday designed to help Android smartphone users stay under the limits of pricey mobile data packages in developing countries. It's now available to download via Google Play.

Datally, the new service, lists data consumption by app and enables users to shut off data transmissions by apps of their choosing, Google group product manager Josh Woodward told Reuters in an interview. It also provides a directory of nearby Wi-Fi networks that includes user commentary on their quality.

The offering is the latest from Google's Next Billion Users division, an internal effort to make internet services more accessible to people in countries where technology infrastructure is not as fast or affordable as in the United States or Western Europe.

Previously, Google announced a peer-to-peer payment app aimed at Indian consumers and a low-bandwidth version of YouTube.

Some Datally functionality is available within the settings pages of Android smartphones, but Woodward said he expects the specialised app will make it easier to understand the options.

During testing of Datally, app developers inside and outside Google initially expressed concern about the effects of users limiting their services' data access, Woodward said.

But they warmed to the idea as they saw that users welcomed data consumption by "apps they really like," Woodward said. "The visibility gives users more confidence to use those apps."

Talking about the new app, Caesar Sengupta, Vice President, Next Billion Users, Google, in a blogpost said, "Mobile data is expensive for many people around the world. And what's worse, it's hard to figure out where it all goes. That's why we built Datally, an app that helps you to control, save more and do more with your data. We've been testing Datally in the Philippines for the past few months, and people are saving up to 30 percent on their data."

To strengthen security for its over two billion users, Facebook may soon ask them to upload a photo that clearly shows their face to prove that they are not a bot. Facebook is testing a new type of captcha test that will use faces to verify whether real users are accessing the social network, and not bots. The fresh development has been spotted in a screenshot and has been confirmed by the company. Notably, tech giants like Apple and Microsoft already have their own solutions (Face ID, Windows Hello) to provide face verification on their systems and platforms.

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3e433e; font-family: "Open Sans", HelveticaNeue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 20px; width: 770px;">
Twitter user @flexlibris on Tuesday posted a screenshot that shows the new verification method. As seen in the screenshot, Facebook asks users to upload a photo that "clearly shows" their face to verify their identity. "We'll check it and then permanently delete it from our servers," the screenshot reads.

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3e433e; font-family: "Open Sans", HelveticaNeue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 20px; width: 770px;">
Facebook confirmed the test to Wired on Tuesday, saying the photo test was intended to "help [Facebook] catch suspicious activity at various points of interaction on the site, including creating an account, sending Friend requests, setting up ads payments, and creating or editing ads".

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3e433e; font-family: "Open Sans", HelveticaNeue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 20px; width: 770px;">
A Facebook spokesperson was quoted as saying that the photo test is one of several methods, both automated and manual, used to detect suspicious activity.

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3e433e; font-family: "Open Sans", HelveticaNeue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 20px; width: 770px;">
The process is automated, including identifying suspicious activity and checking the photo. To determine if the account is authentic, Facebook looks at whether the photo is unique, the report said. The test was spotted by users as far back as April, the report notes.

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3e433e; font-family: "Open Sans", HelveticaNeue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 20px; width: 770px;">
Further, users were locked out of their accounts while the photo was being verified.

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3e433e; font-family: "Open Sans", HelveticaNeue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 20px; width: 770px;">
A message said: "You Can't Log In Right Now. We'll get in touch with you after we've reviewed your photo. You'll now be logged out of Facebook as a security precaution."

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #3e433e; font-family: "Open Sans", HelveticaNeue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px; margin-bottom: 20px; width: 770px;">
Facebook users who suspect their account has been compromised can go to Facebook.com/hacked.

For any website to become attractive, web designs play the key role. One cannot receive several visitors for your website unless one is using trendy web designs. When the internet was launched, websites were not more than static posters being displayed on the computer screen.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Over a period of 2 decades, the web industry has massively evolved and has transformed the static face of websites into full-fledged dynamic web applications. With the course of time, several technologies have been introduced in the web market and have nurtured the entire web industry. Rising technologies have played a vital role in giving rise to changing web designing trends.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; line-height: 1.8;">Dynamicity of the web pages has got whole new meaning today, and it is completely different from the one it had back then. As several web designing trends are rising, the complexity of designing the business websites keeps on growing. With several people embracing the internet readily, and a number of hybrid devices evolving in the field of computers and electronics, the practice of using ‘Responsive Web Design’ is becoming popular.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Web designing is in full boom, after several open source technologies have emerged. They have helped individuals to build elegant websites. With rising diversity among the technologies used, Web Developers in Canada and in rest of world are now switching towards the use of browser friendly web designing techniques. Responsive Web Design is the popular practice of implementing the browser friendly web designing technology.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">For any web developer, a Responsive Web Design is a design which is made to adjust to any platform and any device. Ease of accessibility

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; line-height: 1.8;">Traditional web designs are not known to be browser friendly as compared to the modern web designs. There are complaints, wherein a website appears completely fine in a certain browser, and appears entirely distorted in another browser. Further, the same website is known to miss many components in the mobile browser, or has been reported of not loading at all.<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; line-height: 1.8;"> Web Developers in Canada<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; line-height: 1.8;"> <span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; line-height: 1.8;">says this is a major turn off for the customer, who tries to access the website using his smartphone or tablet. With<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; line-height: 1.8;"> RWD<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; line-height: 1.8;">, one is able to achieve uniform layout on any platform, irrespective of the screen size. This helps in improving the accessibility of the website, and helps in retaining the customer.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">2. Ease of development

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Due to several web designing tools on the rise, it has become easy to develop a website using the Responsive Web Design. For any Web Developer in Toronto to design a traditional website, one needs to code the entire layout from scratch and needs to test it on several web browsers. At times, the compatibility between the browsers cannot be achieved, and hence one needs to compromise on the web layouts. By choosing responsive websites, one can go for a liquid layout which can be developed based on proportions. Extensive testing for browser compatibility is not needed, and the development time reduces significantly. This has been known to save the cost of development.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">3. SEO friendly

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">For a business website to attract several visitors, it should be known over the internet. SEO and PPC campaigns are held for a website, in order to make it popular over the internet. Any Web Developer in Canada who is aware of the SEO practices, will say that a responsive designed website is considered to be a SEO friendly. It does not require punching in extra lines of code for achieving particular views and reduces the site load time. As extra chunks of code get reduced, search engines like Google, readily index the website and give it higher SEO ratings.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">In fact, Google has recommended Webmasters and web designers to use Responsive Web Design for developing their business and ecommerce websites. Also, one does not require to do separate SEO work for the desktop website, and the mobile website.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">4. Low memory consumption and faster loading speeds

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Any Web Developer in Toronto will readily point out that the websites, which are designed using the responsive web technology, are known to load faster as compared to the traditional websites because a RWD is known to have fewer lines of code. Most of the code is reused, and the browser does not require interpreting long lines of code. So, the website loads faster, and consumes very less memory. Customers are attracted by fast loading websites as they make the navigation fast.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">5. Ease of Upgrade

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">The biggest obstacle any business website can have is up gradation. Upgrade process completely changes the face of the website, and several features may become defunct, or may get deleted. Any Web Developer in Canada will surely say that websites designed using Responsive Web Design is easy to tweak and upgrade, and the functionality does not get disturbed.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4940378921168670264.post-71712761376534388642017-03-05T23:26:00.001-08:002017-04-03T02:44:24.442-07:005 logo trends for 2017 you need to know about

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">By Tom May

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: nobody thinks good design is about copying others. But nor does good design exist in a vacuum. So it’s good to know what kind of branding other designers are creating right now; whether it inspires you to follow in their footsteps or run screaming in the opposite direction.

In this post, we’ve gathered together some of the biggest current trends in logo design. None of them are particularly new or revolutionary, and you may recognise some from trends lists past. But they’re all still very much in force at the moment, and seem likely to continue to be influential for at least the next 12 months.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">01. Perhaps all that sleek minimalism we’ve been seeing in logoland has broken us, and we’re once again yearning for the comfort of 70s and 80s children’s TV lettering.

The trend can be seen, for example, in the cute and curvy logos for pet food brand Ollie by Communal Creative; file transfer giants WeTransfer; social-platform-for-play Robox; andchewable candy brand Fruna by Brandlab (with a bouncing ‘U’ in the animated version that’s beautifully reminiscent of Pixar’s lamp).

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">02. Lately, more and more designers have been succeeding, with examples including the new logo for Google’s self-driving car project Waymo, a collaboration with Manual and the in-house team; Spin’s logo for nightclub and music label Ministry Of Sound; the in-house rebrand for customer software company Zendesk; and the hard-geometry wordmark for Pyramida by Reynolds & Reyner.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">03. It requires a good deal of thought, time, and potentially money, but the upside can be enormous.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">It’s important to note here that "redesign" doesn’t necessarily mean you need to change every single one of your branding and graphic design elements. In fact, redesigns can just entail making functional modifications that help your website work better and assist you in reaching your marketing goals. After all, your website is one of the foundational elements of your marketing strategy, right?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">While you can find many excellent reasons not to revamp your site, here are eight great reasons why you should get your redesign plans off the ground.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">1) You aren’t getting the results you want.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Is your website gorgeous, functional, and pixel-perfect? Awesome! But if you still aren’t getting the results you want, it’s just useless web real estate. Your website exists to build your customer base, and your data should show you're trending toward that goal.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> <span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">If you aren’t happy with your results, it’s time to redesign. Examining your site's conversion rates visitor-to-lead and lead-to-customer typically being the most important can provide you with a clear idea of what needs to be adjusted on it. Here are a few questions you should ask yourself to guide your redesign process:
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Does your call-to-action convert visitors into leads and customers?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Do your landing pages inspire people to learn more by digging deeper, or are they simply aesthetically pleasing pages that convey little value?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Is your site too text-heavy or riddled with corporate speak?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Does your site's look and feel match your company's voice and speak directly to your target audience?

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">2) The purpose of your site has changed.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">If you’re like most companies, your marketing strategy is fairly fluid and reflects changes in results. While you clearly don’t need to do a full site redesign each time you adjust your marketing goals, it’s a good idea to check every so often to be sure your site is still aligned with your newest marketing plans. Ask yourself questions like:
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> How often do you modify your marketing strategy?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Do marketing strategy updates affect your conversion funnel?<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Of course, if you haven’t altered your marketing strategy in a while, it might not be your website that is the problem. ;)
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">If your site’s purpose has changed, update its layout to be more in line with your goals. For instance, if you're new goals are now to provide more lead generation content (perhaps some "how-to" blog posts and ebooks), ensure you include CTAs on your homepage and other popular webpages.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">3) Your website just doesn’t work.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">This might seem obvious, but you’ve probably stumbled on websites every now and then that are dysfunctional, to put it lightly. Your site might not be on that level ... but it might still not be as user-friendly as it could be. The truth is there can be elements of a site that aren’t effective and you may not realize they're making your site less effective.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Functionality should be a paramount focus for you if it's not, your traffic and lead gen efforts could suffer. How you and others you ask to test the site -- answer these questions might point you in the clear direction of a redesign:
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Can a visitor readily find the most basic things on your site, such as contact information?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Is your site navigation confusing?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Is your important content hidden?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Are your product and service offers completely up-to-date?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">4) You have an effective web design strategy.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">If you’re already considering a redesign, it’s likely you’ve learned a fair amount along the way about what doesn’t work well in the design process. Instead of having one massive goal of a website redesign, take an iterative approach. Having this approach can help you use the information you've gathered about what works on your current site and plan accordingly. In other words, you'll be able to tell if your current users' needs are being met.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">You probably don’t even notice the small changes some of the sites you visit frequently make on a regular basis major brands have entire teams dedicated to iterating on every little detail. Since you may not have as many resources as these big brands, be sure every change you make has a clear purpose and solves a problem. Questions like these can help you decide if you have a clear purpose and problem to solve:
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Will customers be upset by a major overhaul?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Do you have all the answers you need from your customers to make a significant change?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Can you reduce costs by making small changes to a major feature?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">5) Your site isn’t responsive.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">More than 17% of all web traffic comes from mobile devices. If your site isn’t responsive yet the chances you're losing leads and maybe even customers are high. Mobile users have made it clear they want to have a great UX on their devices the same ones they have on desktops so this should be a chief priority for your company if it hasn't already been made one.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">6) You want to incorporate a better content strategy.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Having fantastic content on your site can improve everything from customer retention to SEO<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> and with continuing changes to the algorithms of search engines, you’d be smart to implement a solid content plan. That said, quality content is useless if your visitors can’t readily find it.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">So, if you’re planning to make some big changes to your content strategy (perhaps boosting your blog production?), a web redesign may be wise. That way, your great posts, ebooks, and other content are easily findable (and your leads database will grow the way you want it to). If you're on the fence about a redesign in the name of your content strategy, ask yourself these questions:
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Can your customers easily find your content?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Does your content incorporate calls-to-action?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Can the search engines find and index your content?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">7) Your competitors changed their site.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Obviously, you don’t need to give your site an overhaul every time one of your competitors changes theirs. Having said that, if they make changes that improve their rankings substantially and end up pushing you down in searches, it's likely time to make some alterations to your site.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">If you spend some time on a competitor’s site and realize it could meet your goals far better than your own site does, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get busy. Maintaining an edge in search shouldn't be your only goal, but if you're not near the top of SERPs because competing business is keeping you from there, analyze what SEO adjustments you can make to your site.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">8) Your third-party tools are outdated.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">If your site is like most out there, you’ve embedded third-party tools that improve its functionality, such as shopping cart widgets. But, if some (or all) of these tools on your site aren't up to modern functionality standards, you're best off updating them. Ask yourself these questions to determine whether you need to replace or remove some tools:
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> How are these third-party tools working?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Are they slowing your site speed down?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> Are new-and-improved versions now available?
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Nothing drives customers away like third-party tools that are outdated in terms of function or design or just don’t work correctly, so make the move to more modern ones that'll not only appeal to your visitors, but also turn them into leads.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Identifying with one of the eight scenarios above shouldn’t cause you to go into panic mode and dive deep into a redesign, but realizing a few hit close to home might mean it’s time to get cracking on a new design.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Your website is meant to bring you business. If it's not doing that, it’s time to determine why not and make necessary changes.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0160/1, Kamarajar Salai, (Near Nirmala Girls Hr. Among them, the ever-present question: “Is logo design still relevant?”.

Today, I’m going to share with you the reasons why logo design still matters in 2017, from a client’s perspective, as well as a provider’s.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Heads Up: Micro-Branding from Day 1

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Branding is like air for your business: chances are it won’t survive without it. I have briefly mentioned before the importance of a personal brand and why it is key to your online success.

Reality stands like this: in 2016, we saw an emerging trend in communities being formed around people, not brands. There’s also a demand in customers’ perceived value, which eventually translates into a better understanding of what your customers want and need, as well as what they receive - the end result.

Big data certainly comes to aid businesses in acquiring the necessary intel. Social media has also gained a solid status as “social CRM tool” for both businesses and customers to connect, engage, offer and collect feedback.

With these aspects in mind, independent of their nature, businesses should rely on micro-branding from Day 1. What does this mean, exactly? Simply put, a shift in focus from general brand appearance, message and positioning, towards a subtler thinking. The only way to differentiate and communicate with your audience on a subconscious level is “for people, by people”.

One example is the term “handcrafted artisan jewelry”. When a business provides such services or products, and labels themselves as unique, the gap between provider and customer is greatly reduced. In fact, the business relationship becomes more personal, more solid and more special.

The customer feels cared for and chances are he becomes not just a fan of the brand, but also a brand ambassador, promoting and evangelizing the products and services on their private social channels. A thorough explanation of micro-branding is provided in this article on MarketingProfs, dating from 2007.

Bottom line: to get closer to your customers, you need an image and a vision that goes beyond general branding. What does this have in common with logo design? Precisely everything, since a logo should be your first secret ace from day 1.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Why Logo Design Matters for Businesses
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">We just discussed about micro-branding, now moving to the importance of logo. While a business can survive without a website and most local businesses do not even bother to have a website, they cannot differentiate from competition without a visual signature. Any business, online or offline, local or international, needs custom logos that will embed the uniqueness of the brand.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">A logo is a clear, short and concise message about the brand’s personality. In terms of color, playful logo designs are usually seen in marketing agencies, development & games startups, leisure, food and beverages businesses. More rigid logo designs can reflect that the company is a corporation, part of a company chain, or part of industries such as legal, real estate and more. Specific elements can point out the industry a business is active in.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Examples: coffee beans, wine glasses, bottles, sandwich, bread, web vector elements help new customers “translate” the name and determine the type of service or product a business offers. Returning customers are aided by vector elements in recognizing the brand both online and offline. Potential customers can be drawn by a logo before even trying the services or products.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Logo Design as a Service
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Many freelancers ask themselves if “logo design is still relevant as a skill”. With agencies offering brand package deals for good prices, competition sure is tough for the regular freelancer. The fast-growing gig economy means “the supply of gig labor is liquid and comprised largely of part-time workers on gig platforms”, according to HBR. While their article discusses mostly driver-gig platforms such as Uber and Lyft, to some extent, this can be applied to freelancing marketplaces as well.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Professional designers can suffer a huge blow if they rely only on their logo design skills and still want to keep their status as independent contractors or freelancers. Things are different for professionals getting hired by agencies under a full-time position and salary.
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">However, for the logo design freelancer, the service is profitable as a part-time, occasional gig, and the best way to preserve their independent worker status is to diversify their services, skills and portfolio. This doesn’t mean that logo design as a service isn’t profitable, whenever the service is requested by clients.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Freelance Marketplaces for Logo Designers
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">To increase the chances of earning a full-time income by mostly offering logo design services, freelancers can check out the following marketplaces:

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">A good old place for designers, the website offers mostly small design gigs and regularly advertises updates on their Twitter page, @99designs.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">New entry on the list, the website offers freelancers cool challenging opportunities and the chance to showcase their best skills. Don’t, at least not entirely.

The best brands are recognisable by various colour schemes and features, and completely changing this can have a negative effect instead of a positive. Consider whether the changes you have in mind serve the purpose of the customer, or whether they are to fix what isn’t actually broken. More often than not, it is the latter.

Google is possibly the best example of where minor changes work best. The layout of the search engine has always predominantly remained the same and is recognisable around the world. It is a formula that works and works well.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Simple Changes

Making small, but effective, changes to your website is often the best way to go. If your website is not suffering from a large bounce rate and the general feedback is positive, look into what features are not working and what can be improved.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">If you have an e-commerce website, you might be able to modify the checkout process and improve customer experience, making it easier for them to purchase your products. Making the process as simple as possible for your customer to achieve their intended goals is the operative goal.

Deciding a New Website is required

Should you believe that a completely new website is needed after considering all of the finer aspects, you will want to want to sit down with your team, and/or possibly a web design agency, and brainstorm ideas for your new site.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">If your website is three or more years older, the chances are that it was developed using defunct technology, meaning that this provides the opportunity to make vast improvements to your web presence.

Developing a new website must also take into consideration the emergence of mobile browsing – this is nothing new, however, web designers now consider a website’s layout on mobile and tablet devices before desktop computers. October 2016 saw mobile and tablet browsing (51.3%) overtake the desktop (48.7%), according to web analytics firm StatCounter.

It is only natural that web designers cater for the larger and growing market trend, especially with no signs of web browsing habits swinging back the other way. Of course, that does not mean disregarding a website’s desktop layout – this can be made simple with a responsive template, automatically optimising your website to the device which it is being viewed on.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
Consider a Static Front Page

Computers have become more powerful and internet speeds have increased, so surely you can welcome visitors to your site with an animation produced by your graphic design team?

Yes, if you feel that your customers are willing to wait as the sizeable page opens up on their mobile device.

Last year saw a lot of web designers revert back to static front pages, and that trend is set to continue in 2017. A static front page will decrease the size of the landing page, making your website load a lot quicker than the average five seconds waiting time and improve user experience, potentially putting you ahead of your competitors and making you the first point of call.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Digital Marketing and SEO Strategy

There is no point is having an amazing website if nobody is going to see it. Your digital marketing and SEO strategies should be developed before your website in order to hit the ground running.

Google rewards website for having high quality and consistent content, so it may well be worth your time including a blog section and keeping this regularly updated (at least once or twice a week). Not only will this allow your company to discuss issues important to your customers, but will help to develop keywords and push your website further up Google’s rankings.

As well as producing written content, your website will benefit from making use of images and videos. Not only will this help to break up any text, but this can help to increase user experience, particularly when browsing on smaller mobile devices, and can also have a positive effect on a website’s SEO.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4940378921168670264.post-49350422145703429762017-02-10T21:45:00.003-08:002017-04-03T02:44:24.535-07:006 ways to improve your business cards

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">By Tom May

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Make your business card something people will want to keep, with these 6 simple ideas.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">So you’ve followed our advice on how to design a business card, and you’ve designed something that looks pretty decent. Here’s a great example from Lukas Novotny, a multidisciplinary designer based in London. The front side of his business card has a movable tab: pull it out and a breakdown of his creative process is revealed. It’s a simple idea, but wonderfully executed. So why not demonstrate that on your business card? Utah-based designer couple Mike and Alma Loveland, aka Ollybird, get it spot on with their joint business card above. And every year, I have to think back and chuckle at all the people who claimed social marketing was just a fad—as little as a few years ago.

It’s clear now that social media marketing is here to stay, and its massive staying power is attributable to one key characteristic—the fact that social media keeps evolving. It responds to new tech like mobile devices, constantly exceeds users’ expectations, and competes within itself to bring us more and better features.

So what does 2017 have in store for us social media marketers?

1. Snap’s Evolution Will Result in Interesting New Opportunities.

First up, I’d like to mention the enormous evolution Snapchat—now called Snap—has undergone, and where it may be headed in the future. Already, Snap has transformed user expectations and major trends in the social marketing world. It’s helped bring back a more moment-focused view of communication, leading to more in-the-moment and live content, it’s facilitated more mobile-centric app developments, and it’s introduced vertical videos into the mainstream. But now, it’s looking to develop products outside its main means of exchanging messages, introducing real-world glasses to help users capture first-person visual information. Expect big things from this recently-renamed company in 2017, and huge marketing opportunities to go along with them.

2. Twitter Fatigue Will Worsen.

Twitter isn’t doing so hot. People have been predicting the death of Twitter for the past few years, but I’m not here to say whether or not Twitter’s going to survive another year (it probably will). Instead, I’d like to point out one potential factor for the app’s decline, what I call “Twitter fatigue.” Twitter built itself on fast, bite-sized updates, but this leads to a barrage of both incoming and outgoing tweets. This was novel and exciting at first, but now users are starting to crave something different—bigger, more detailed, more interesting pieces of content that roll out slower, like once per day. You can see this trend taking hold already in platforms like Instagram.

3. Users Will Crave More Vicarious Experiences.

People are also starting to demand social media as a conduit for more vicarious experiences. It’s no longer enough to post your sentiments about an event; you have to show your users what it’s like to be there. You can do this with things like live video, 360 images and video, and even just more real-time posting. The idea is to make your users feel like they’re a genuine part of the experience, as it’s unfolding.

4. New Areas of Communication Will Emerge.

Historically, social media existed as a way for individual people to communicate online. When brands caught on, it also became a way for brands to speak to and advertise to consumers. But now, social media is evolving in new communicative areas. Some platforms are offering means of customer service, increasing the significance and interactivity of exchanges between brands and consumers. Others, like Facebook, are delving into more professional communication. Expect to see more diversity here as more brands catch onto the potential.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4940378921168670264.post-54419064035287742302017-01-19T00:05:00.002-08:002017-04-03T02:44:24.602-07:00How to unlock a brand’s true digital potential

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">by Rajiv Gupta

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Raj Dutt, a 35-year-old home furnishing retailer in Srinagar was among the many affected by the political turmoil in Kashmir. However, this did not dampen his entrepreneurial spirit and he found an innovative solution—a digital solution.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Dutt leveraged the newly-launched sales assistant iPad app from a leading home furnishing company to create a new way of doing business. He went to his customers’ homes, showcasing the now digital product catalogue, helping them visualize interiors on the app itself and taking orders on the spot or bringing over the shortlisted fabric samples when needed. Now imagine doing this without the app, which would need him to carry close to 200 sample books to choose from, each weighing 10-15kg, for each home visit.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">In Dutt’s epic journey we find a true representation of the impact a thoughtfully-crafted digital solution can create in the right hands. Digital disruption in retail is often thought of as just a way of creating a new channel to sell, own or aggregate products or services via a cool app or e-commerce marketplace. But the true potential and value of digital is far more ubiquitous.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">For instance, geo-analytics, complemented by rich consumer data, today allows you to pinpoint exactly the right micro-markets for, say, a handset brand to launch new stores in—something that was based on ‘experience’ earlier.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Digital is not all about business-to-consumer (B2C). In B2B companies, let’s say auto components, one of the top needs for customers quite often is transparency of order status and timely updates. Digital provides a strong way of seamlessly creating a platform where the customer can track his order from acceptance to manufacturing and from transport and delivery with pro-active intimation on potential delays—making his/her life much simpler. The advantages are manifold but the journey is never easy.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">We believe there are six key pillars for a successful digital transformation.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Disruption and innovation

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Redefining the business model, from selling to servicing to feedback and improvement, is one of the first steps in the journey. More times than not, the consumer won’t have answers you need directly (e.g. Henry Ford’s famous quip that if he were to ask his customers what they wanted, he would have built faster horses). Our lines of inquiry need to leverage trained specialists to tap into the discipline of ethnographic research and understand unmet or latent needs. Amazon Echo Dot or Google Home are excellent examples of creating a new need—a digital assistant that is a news reader, home lighting controller, travel agent and Wikipedia rolled into one.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Customer journeys re-imagined

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Defining seamless and integrated consumer journeys across all touch-points is next. If technology has defined progress in the last decade, then design thinking is the flavour of the next one. Imagine someone refurnishing their home can shortlist the fabrics you like on your app while commuting, visualize the shortlisted products as upholstery or curtains on your laptop, get advice from family and friends and finally find the nearest store to ‘touch’ the actual fabric and complete the purchase—all through beautifully designed screens in a few clicks.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Agile development and launch

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Executing these ambitions requires a considered approach—choosing the right partners and technology platform, getting the data right, even finding the right product photography solution to a life-like product display, testing the digital product and planning the digital marketing right. The focus has to be on creating the MVP (minimum viable product) and then enhancing and refining it through each sprint for iterative upgrades.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Creating data and analyst capability

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">‘Data is the new oil,’ it is said, and the key here is unlocking consumer data at the front end and operations data at the back end. It is possible today to target a person, who searched for a car, with an auto-insurance offer that is customized for him depending on his profile (demographics, interests) at another website that he frequents.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Every penny of yours can be optimized to target the right person in the right geography at the right time and the right place to personalize the right offering and maximize the return on investment.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Adoption and commercialization

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Each digital investment should have a clear lens on commercial value, tracked actively through a sharply-defined dashboard. Adoption is among the toughest challenges in the journey—especially, converting a user’s interest to not only, say, a potential download, but actual usage, transaction and, most important (but most difficult), repeat engagement—while at the same time, doing so at the least cost per click.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Digitization of process

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">A chain is as good as the weakest link. A sports car chassis with an 800cc engine will not create an optimum consumer experience—neither will the most-innovatively designed agile customer process with a 1990s back-end.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Hence, digitizing of the core processes through a clear integrated view of the information technology (IT) architecture and associated applications and making choices around niche versus diverse platforms needs thoughtful consideration.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Digital is a reality—it is not a dotcom boom or bust. It is already the current way of working and organizations have a choice—to embrace it…or die.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Rajiv Gupta is partner and head of technology advantage practice, Bharat Mimani is project leader, and Amrita Chang is consultant at BCG India.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4940378921168670264.post-9950183971123837532017-01-04T21:50:00.004-08:002017-04-03T02:44:24.626-07:00Google Digital Unlocked programme aims to bring Indian SMBs online

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">By Digit NewsDesk

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

Google announced its Digital Unlocked programme and My Business Websites for SMBs in India to come online.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Google has announced its Digital Unlocked skills programme in India today. Those interested can also visit the digital Unlocked website to get details of the location of workshops. But the experience of industry professionals has been universal—highly engaged content has much greater SEO value than do less popular pages. And that makes sense. Google’s algorithm is designed—and is constantly being tweaked—to find and rank high-quality, useful content for each search query. To do so, it needs a way to measure the value of sites.

Social signals are a helpful factor in making that determination because they represent independent assessments of a page’s content. You’re not going to like a piece of content on Facebook or share a link to it if you don’t think it’s worth reading, right? And you’re not going to spend your work break watching videos that aren’t, at the very least, amusing.

Social media engagement essentially provides Google with external validation of a page’s value.

This means that social media marketing and search engine optimization work in tandem; what works well for one works for the other. Here are five ways to ensure your social media posting helps your SEO.

1. Figure Out Who You Are, and Make It Known

The internet is a crowded place. To stand out, you need to build a strong, authentic, and engaged brand presence. This is done by strategically publishing optimized content on your social media pages based on a content calendar. Your fans should be able to recognize you instantly as the author of a piece of content because of your design, ethos, and tone. All your content should include an on-brand message to keep it relevant and cohesive. You will get searched more often and increase awareness of your business organically, which is so much more valuable than any advertising.

2. Size Matters

The total number of followers of, and connections to, your social media profiles has a direct and significant influence on your rankings. The more, the merrier. But before you consider paying a shady SEO company to boost your follower count, take note that quality matters. Really followers will engage with your content, and fake followers won’t—and engagement is the key.

If you want to build a community, you have to start by thinking of yourself as a leader. All of your social media profiles should be places where your ideal followers want to spend time. Putting out high-quality content is crucial, but then you need to engage. Identify key people in your niche, and follow them to get follows back. Offer incentives, such as a free download or entry into a giveaway in exchange for Facebook or Twitter follows. Get conversations started.

3. Court Admiration

The entire purpose or goal of a social network is sharing. Likes, comments, and shares are the most significant action for SEO. The more your community shares your content, the more opportunity for SEO visibility. And shared social media posts can end up in all kinds of places beyond social media: blog posts, articles, slideshow presentations, ebooks, etc.

Make it easy for people to engage with your content. Ask provocative questions to encourage discussion. Use hashtags to include your content in a larger conversation. Format tweets so they’re easy to retweet, and respond to all comments on your content.

4. Optimize Your Content

Social media platforms are searchable, just like search engines, so you need a social SEO strategy to help people search for and discover your content. Do your keyword research, plan out your content accordingly, and include the right keywords in your headings, posts, and hashtags. And don’t forget to optimize your profiles the same way you’ve optimized your website—with SEO keywords in summaries, links, biographies, captions, and in the text itself.

When it comes to search, keywords are the stepping stones that guide people to your high-quality website content. A Facebook or Twitter user may stumble upon your content because of them and like it, share it, or even become a follower.

5. Go Where the Followers Are

The social media world is constantly expanding. If you’re limiting your engagement with just one or two platforms, you’re missing out on major opportunities to get your content before different audiences. People on Snapchat are not necessarily checking out YouTube, and Instagram users may not regularly visit Facebook. As with investment portfolios, it’s always best to diversify your holdings to ensure you get a high social media ROI.

Successful social media posting and strong SEO strategy operate by the same rules: Provide smart, concise, and valuable content, watch your audience, and engage. By seeking alignment with your followers, you will become known and trusted as a leading expert in the field. They will begin to look out for your content and share it. Remember: That influence snowballs with each new high-quality piece of content you publish.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">source by: meganathan

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; Although it’s nice that it kind of makes you feel like a bad guy walking around in a stealth game’s mini-map, it’s actually a useful feature. The narrowness of the cone correlates with how well your device is calibrated for direction.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">To increase accuracy, all you have to do is swim your phone through the air in a figure eight as demonstrated below.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">What’s cool is that you don’t have to go into any settings to do this. You can perform a calibration swim anytime you want while the app is running, and your direction calibration will be increased. Pretty nifty.

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">What are your thoughts regarding Google’s new direction indicator on Google Maps?
